Diphu, Sep. 18 (EMN): After 15 days of signing the Karbi peace accord, People’s Democratic Council of Karbi Longri (PDCK), an armed organisation of Karbi Anglong, disbanded on Saturday.
As a sign of disbanding the organisation, the flag of PDCK was lowered. It was formed in 2016 with 387 cadres.
Chairman Songbijit Kathar at a press meet said, 'I hope another armed struggle will not be raised in Karbi Anglong. I urge those individuals and organisations to extend their cooperation in fulfilling every clause in the peace accord'.
When asked whether the PDCK members will be contesting in the forthcoming KAAC elections or join the national party (BJP), the chairman stated that right now no such decision was taken. He added that though the council has been disbanded, a welfare society to continue tackling the problems of the former members would be constituted.
