People’s Democratic Alliance delegation calls on Nirmala Sitharaman
Dimapur, Feb. 23 (EMN): The People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) delegation led by National spokesperson of the BJP, Mmhonlumo Kikon, who is also the advisor IT&C, Science and Technology and NRE, called on Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at North Block New Delhi, on Tuesday.
The delegation include Minister for Higher Education and Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along; Minister for Housing and Mechanical, Tongpang Ozukum; Advisor for Horticulture, Border Affairs, Mhathung Yanthan; and Advisor for Technical Education and Election, Medo Yhokha, according to an update from Kuolie Mere, PRO (IPR) Nagaland House, New Delhi.
While congratulating the finance minister for the “excellent budget presentation”, the delegation apprised her to provide a “special allocation for all round development of the state”.
Kikon requested Sitharaman to provide special fund in the road sector, “particularly for the development of the Trans Nagaland Highway which will connect all the foothills of state and also form the backbone of the state in terms of district connectivity”, it informed.
Along also stressed on the importance of Trans Nagaland Highway and the need for considering the special needs of the north-eastern states in regard to National Education Policy during the meeting with the finance minister, it added.
While highlighting “the ongoing projects initiated by the Housing department under state plan and negotiated loan, which requires about (INR) 400 crore for completion”, Tongpang also requested Sitharaman to consider the proposal of the state for development of an International Exhibition and Convention Centre in Dimapur district under Externally Aided Project.
The finance minister assured to extend all possible assistance on the issue of Farmer Production Organisation for Nagaland raised by Mhathung and to extend all possible help to the state.
The update went on to inform that the delegation had invited the finance minister to the upcoming Hornbill festivals.
