Penkim Baptist church celebrates 50 years

Penkim Baptist Church celebrated its golden jubilee along with the church’s woman department and Christian Youth Endeavour from December 16 to the 18th. The celebrations were held with the theme ‘launching out in deeper transformation.’ A monolith was unveiled to mark the occasion. Rev. Phunungkiu, Mission Promoter of YBBA dedicated the monolith.Speaking during the inauguration as the speaker mission secretary of YBBA Hankiu Joshua said that the past 50 years the church have brought tremendous progress and blessed many great leaders and scholars. He further asserted that nothing could have been possible without the sacrifice and contribution made by the pioneers and the community. Joshua said 50 years of ‘golden jubilee in Christianity’ should not count as a formality for achieving destination, but make be considered a history for the kingdom of God as well community. It is a very important occasion for the believers to build up closer relationship with God as a Christian family, he said. “As today, many of you were received jubilee certificates and mementos as symbol of remembering your good works; make a use of it for the glory of the lord,” he told the congregation
Also, speaker Shojila Lachim, women secretary of YBBA, also urged church leaders to ‘push forward in all activities’. The present Naga society needs changes. It can be changed only through the initiative of churches leaders, she said. She preached: “Women’s need to be sincere at this present perspective since there is no place for corruption in this generation every nock of Conner hears people praying for peaceful situation but it cannot bring by forcefully it can be only changes come when every individual understand by itself. Also stressed that the women’s needs more focus on proclaim righteousness at this environment and keep a good friendship with word of God so that you can overcome all the evil prey.”
Likewise, Khalemew, Youth secretary of YBBA, talked about the present youths. He said that ‘unless you know God as your personal savior very well, you can never appreciate that person, you can never understand the good and the bad in that person’. The problem is not in the place ‘where you go to worship, the problem is with you, and if you have God in you, you will definitely feel his presence he will gladly come to stay in you, honor you in everything that you do,’ he explained.
As part of the programme members from various churches from the neighboring villages also attended and celebrated with the church with music. Paper lanterns and fireworks marked the occasion.
