Dimapur, April 18 (EMN): Latakhrü Whemi, a group of individuals from Viswema village in Kohima district, has constructed Latakhrü Park at Krayo, a tri-junction connecting Viswema, Kidima and Khuzama, which was formally inaugurated by the mission director of Angami Baptist Church Council (ABCC), Rev Atha Neikha, on April 17.
The land was donated by wife of Puzon Kin, Medongonü Kin, and their children while the park was constructed by Latakhrü Whemi, an update from the group stated.
In his address, Rev. Neikha lauded the initiatives of Latakhrü Whemi in constructing the park which would provide resting sheds to the travellers on the route and also the farmers.
“Latakhrü group has shown exemplary deed by placing society's benefit above their personal interest,” he said adding that the good gesture would reflect not only Latakhrü’s image but also R Khel and Viswema village as a whole.
Stating that upbringing of the younger generation should be everyone’s responsibility, he said ‘we have to bring the youngsters in a way we want our society to move ahead. He added that as parents they need to educate youngsters on civic sense, good hygienic behaviours, respecting elders and also to be agents of change.
He hoped that travellers and farmers would make proper utilisation of the park and also maintain cleanliness.
A member of Latakhrü Whemi, Vitsorel Lcho, informed that the group was formed in 1984 with 12 each male and female members and have lived as a family. He said the park was constructed with the vision to serve the public.
Latakhrü secretary Vichosel Rhütso chaired the programme, which was also attended by advisor of Youth Resources and Sports, Zale Neikha. Songs were presented by Seshe and Sanei and Latakhrü Whemi members and the vote of thanks was delivered by Vithel Pusa.
