Peace Channel motivates children to be agent of peace

Dimapur, Feb. 22 (EMN): Newly inducted peace club members of St. Joseph’s School, Niuland, have pledged to be peace lovers, peace makers and peace promoters and affirmed their stand towards building a peaceful society.

Speaking at the induction programme on February 18, Peace Channel project coordinator, Garrol Lotha stressed on inculcating peace within oneself to bring peace in the society. State that peace is the product of a positive mental attitude, she urged the students to always remain positive even in the midst of trying times.

Emphasising on peace as the need of the hour, she also stressed on important role of children in promoting peace in the classroom, school, family, and the society as a whole. She motivated the students not to be reactive and repulsive in times of conflict but to be more analytical and resolve the issue in a peaceful way. The students were also taught to be non judgmental, respect and accept everyone as children of same God, forgive one another, and make classroom a peace zone.

She elaborated on how they could effectively contribute towards peace building by enhancing their skills through peace initiative programmes in the institutions and localities. She also highlighted on the role of children in promoting peace. She concluded her speech by encouraging them to resolutely stand against injustice and violence in the society through their examples.
