PDCSU observes Co-operative Week

Kohima, Nov. 24 (EMN): Phek District Co-operative Societies Union (PDCSU) observed the 66th All India Co-operative Week 2019 in all the sub-divisions under Phek district from November 14 to the 19th.

Supported by Co-operation department, it was observed in Meluri, Phek, Chozuba and Pfutsero on the theme “Role of cooperative in new India.” The resource persons were Bisinle Kemp, ARCS, Phek; Bharati Chinnal, SRCS Pfutsero; Jacob Khing, SRCS Phek; and Tsuknungwati, ICS Phek.

Speaking on the theme, the resource persons underscored special emphasis on basic education to strengthen the society. The cooperative societies were urged to be more sincere and focus on feasible project for sustainable development.

The need of “One village, one society” to be more practicable for the rural farmers also shared by the resource persons.

The scheme for one time settlement to those societies who had availed NCDC and ICDP loan before 2007 were provided golden opportunity particularly weak society who couldn’t repay loan in time to avail the scheme and repay the loan of principle amount with only two years interest.

They expressed that the state government was willing to support the genuine working societies to become economically sound.

Mhathun Khuvung, branch manager of NStCB Pfutsero; N Limhathung Yanthan, assistant branch manager of NStCB Chozuba; and Kahoto, field officer of NSCB Phek branch, also joined the celebration in their respective places.

Kedoutsolhi Wezah, president of Nagaland Co-operative Societies Union (NCSU) exhorted the gathering on November 19 at Pfutsero and challenged the co-operators to be more serious on vision plan and be a successful society.

The PDCSU and the co-operators who participated in the week-long celebration have assured to give full support to the Co-operation department especially in the recovery drive.

It also appealed to all the societies who have failed to repay their loans to promptly avail the one-time settlement scheme and liquidate their loans at the earliest possible time.

All the working cooperative societies have been directed to put signboard in their respective office and also to update the yearly audit in consultation with the concerned officers.
