Dimapur, Nov. 5 (EMN): The People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) on Thursday resolved that the Joint Legislators’ Forum (JLF) on Naga political issue would continue to function and reiterated its appeal to opposition Naga People’s Front (NPF) to rejoin the forum as desired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

According to a DIPR report on Thursday, this was one of the resolutions adopted during a PDA meeting held in Kohima on Thursday.

‘The House deliberated on the proposal of the leader of opposition in his letter addressed to the chief minister on November 2. The House observed that since formation of the JLF in 2009, the forum has been successfully playing the role of active facilitator in the Indo-Naga peace process and therefore there is no requirement to discontinue with the JLF at this crucial and late juncture.

‘The House reiterated the resolution of the PDA on August 20, 2020 wherein the House resolved to continue with the JLF. The House reiterates the appeal of the government of India, through the union home minister, Amit Shah, to the NPF to rejoin the JLF and also to endorse the resolutions of the consultative meeting of October 15, 2020, which was conveyed to the leader of opposition on October 20, 2020 at New Delhi in the presence of chief minister and Neda convenor, Himata Biswa Sarma,’ it stated.

The PDA welcomed and endorsed the resolutions of the October 15 consultative meeting; congratulated the state government on the successful conduct of the meeting and extended appreciation to all the tribe hohos, civil society organisations, church bodies, political parties, NGOs, stakeholders and individuals who attended and participated in the meeting, making it successful and historic.

It also congratulated the state government, the Election department, the administration and police, tribe hohos, NGOs and all sections who contributed towards the peaceful and successful conduct of bye-elections to two assembly constituencies.

“The House also congratulated the electorate of the constituencies for positively participating in the election and strengthening democracy in the grassroots,” it added.
