Dimapur, July 29 (EMN): The PDA Legislative Party (PDALP) has acknowledged the contributions of the frontline workers in the battle against the Covid-19 pandemic, saying that they have been working round the clock for the past four months and making significant sacrifices in the greater interest of the general public.

An update informed that the PDALP passed a two-point resolution at its meeting held at the State Banquet Hall on July 29.

While appreciating the contributions and sacrifices of the medical fraternity, administration and police, all government agencies, tribal hohos, civil societies, church organisations, NGOs, political parties, individuals, and state government and its agencies, the house also lauded the public for co-operating with the authorities.

“The people of Nagaland deserve to be complimented for extending all out co-operation in adhering to the guidelines, advisories and SOPs during the lockdown period,” the press release read.

The PDALP also reiterated its stand on the Indo-Naga political issue, calling upon the negotiating parties to expedite the peace talks and bring about a political settlement that is honourable and acceptable to the people while upholding the democratic political rights of the Nagas.

Recalling the political dialogue being held under 23-year-old ceasefire; the subsequent Framework Agreement signed on August 3, 2015; the agreed preamble on November 17, 2017 with various Naga political groups; and the announcement of successful conclusion of talks on October 31 last year, the party said the masses have been crying out for lasting peace.

Therefore, it said, “the negotiating parties should make all possible efforts to come to an understanding and formulate a settlement at the shortest possible time”.
