WOKHA — The People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) consensus candidate of the upcoming Lok Sabha election from Nagaland, Dr. Chumben Murry, has refuted allegations against the BJP as anti-Christian and urged not to play religious card for political motives.

Dr. Murry stated this during an election campaign held in Longsa village under Wokha district on Thursday. He was accompanied by advisor of Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan, MLA Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe, and former BJP candidate, Renponthung Ezung.

Highlighting India’s huge Hindu population, he emphasised that not all Hindus hold anti-Christian sentiments adding that anti-Christians are just a small percentage of extremists.

Asserting the PDA government’s commitment to prioritise the interests of the Naga people, Dr. Murry cited an example of how AFSPA, which was brought in by the Congress party in the year 1958, was lifted in many parts of the state due to the efforts of the present government as well as on the exclusion from UCC and CAA.

He vowed to work tirelessly for peace, stability and development, positioning himself as a bridge between the Nagas and Delhi, while appealing to vote for him on April 19.

Advisor Mhathung Yanthan highlighted Dr. Murry’s credentials and eligibility for receiving the party ticket. He stated that Dr. Murry is Nagaland’s favourite candidate for his popularity and intellect.

He urged all to maintain unity and encouraged to elect Dr. Murry with a significant majority. He further maintained that all the MLAs are devout Christians and would never compromise on faith and identity.

MLA YM Humtsoe expressed confidence of Dr. Murry’s victory. Stating that Dr. Murry has the support of 60 MLAs from 8 political parties, he urged the voters to seize the opportunity wisely.

Former BJP candidate from 38 AC, Renponthung Ezung, expressed joy in Dr. Murry’s candidature and described him as the most suitable representative for the Nagas in the parliament. He further stressed the need for unity during critical times.
