PDA allies hold consultative meet for LS polls in Zunheboto
DIMAPUR — A consultative meeting in preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha election was held on Saturday at the Multipurpose Hall in Zünheboto.
According to a press release, the meeting was organised by the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) Zünheboto Region and attended by party leaders from all seven constituencies under PDA representation.
The meeting was attended by G Kaito Aye, Minister for Road and Bridges and convenor of the election committee of the PDA in Zünheboto; KT Sukhalu, Advisor for Food and Civil Supply and Legal Meteorology; Kazheto Kinimi, Advisor for Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services and co-convenor of the election committee for the PDA in Zünheboto; G Ikuto Zhimomi, Advisor for Land Resources; Picto Shohe, MLA; and Dr. Sukhato Sema, MLA.
Speaking on the occasion, Aye urged the party leaders to coordinate, cooperate, and stand together as one. He emphasised that the opposition-less government must produce a resounding and impactful result in the upcoming elections.
Aye highlighted that aligning with the ruling government at the centre is in the best interest of Nagas, and therefore, they must unite towards that goal to ensure more development and progress in the state. He also urged all parties to kindly approach him for any necessities or in any difficulty.
Kazheto Kinimi stated that under the opposition-less government, all 60 MLAs in Nagaland have resolved to come together in support of the PDA consensus candidate, Dr. Chumben Murry. Ikuto Zhimomi stressed that Nagaland is facing a historic election because, for the first time, all 60 MLAs in an opposition-less government have fielded a consensus candidate.
“And so we should unite together for the betterment of Nagaland and also for Zünheboto district,” Zhimomi said.
Picto Shohe asserted that PDA consensus candidate Murry is a well-learned and seasoned politician who would represent Nagaland outstandingly in the Lok Sabha if elected.
Dr. Sukhato A Sema conveyed that seven parties, cutting across party lines, coming together for a consultative meeting under one roof in support of one consensus candidate is a historic occasion.
KT Sukhalu emphasised that all political parties in the state have united to form an opposition-less government to act as ‘one voice’ for the Naga political solution. He stressed that when the solution comes, Nagaland will usher in an era of rapid development and progress, along with social harmony.
A resolution of the meeting was also drafted by representatives from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Naga People’s Front (NPF), Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), headed by the Drafting Convenor, Hutovi P. Awomi, general secretary of the NDPP Zunheboto.
Ahovi Zhimomi, working president of the NDPP Nagaland, emphasised in his speech the importance of collective effort for the advancement and development of the district.
Meanwhile, Khehoshe Yeptho, president of the NDPP Zunheboto Region, urged legislators and party leaders to remain in their respective constituencies during the election period. He stressed the need for effective coordination and communication with their respective MLAs to ensure a favourable outcome.
He also stated that the NDPP Zunheboto Region Office is always open for assistance and coordination at any time.
