Dimapur, Aug. 21 (EMN): The Geology department of Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) celebrated its silver jubilee on August 20 at the college’s Bundrock Hall in the presence of the college’s principal, faculties and students.
An update from the college stated that the retired joint director of state Geology and Mining, Dr. Chisoi, was the resource person of the programme.
Chisoi, who served 32 years in the Geology and Mining department, shared his experiences as a scientist in the field of geology and mining.
“Education is the best human resource development and the teachers of the department fulfill that,” he said and urged the students to become geology scientists and research into the minerals found in Nagaland.
PCC principal, Dr. Thefuvilie Pieru, appreciated the department for its performance over the years and exhorted the students to explore their talent, grab opportunities and continue to dream big.
Dr. Rudhowhelie Peseyie, a faculty of the Geology department, stated that the department was established in 1997 with just four students and one lecturer. He expressed happiness that the erstwhile ‘smallest department’ at present has become one of the biggest departments in the college.
Chaplin of PCC, Vichukho Ngukha, offered invocation followed by welcome address delivered by Dr. Kowete -U Sekhamo. Dr. T Devala Devi delivered vote of thanks and Dr. Ajano Khalo pronounced the benediction.
