- DIMAPUR — The
Nagaland Private Doctors Association (NPDA) has announced that it would be left
with no choice but to terminate their contract with the government and
discontinue services under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY)
and Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) if the matter concerning
unpaid bills is not resolved promptly.
- In a press release issued on Friday, the association stated
that despite an assurance from the Nagaland Health Protection Society (NHPS)
that the matter would be resolved by February 28, “no substantial payments have
been made.”
- “We feel deeply betrayed and disrespected, as our continued
cooperation during this challenging time has been met with inaction. It is
unacceptable that we are being taken advantage of, and we can no longer
tolerate this situation.
- “After careful consideration and prayer, we have decided to
escalate this issue to the court in pursuit of justice. While private
stakeholders are not obligated to the government, we have acted in good faith
out of a sense of duty to the people,” it stated.
- According to the NPDA, they would proceed with the contract
termination by submitting one month’s prior notice, as stipulated in the
memorandum of understanding.
- “It must also be emphasised that the NHPS/FGI should not
exploit the interim order of the court, as the court's duty is to uphold
justice and will duly consider our legitimate grievances.
- “The NPDA remains committed to fairness and justice and
urges all responsible authorities to act with the urgency and integrity that
this matter demands,” it added.
