Patton inaugurates two bridges in Zunheboto

Dimapur, May 1 (EMN): The deputy chief minister and minister in-charge of NPWD (Road and Bridges), Y Patton, inaugurated the Tsuyi and Tsui RCC T-beam bridges in Zunheboto district on Saturday during a programme which was held virtually at the conference hall of chief engineer (Road and Bridges) in Kohima.

In his address, Patton stated that the two bridge projects were sanctioned by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, government of India, under economic importance scheme during August 2017. Stating that the construction works began in December 2018, he said that the works were delayed due to Covid-19 lockdown during 2020, an update from deputy CMO stated on Saturday.

As the bridges serve as lifeline to many villages and also connect to the district headquarters, Patton expressed confidence that the public would be benefited economically. He elaborated that Tsuyi bridge is located on Pughoboto-Asukiqa road and provides connectivity to nearby habitations namely Natsumi, Asukiqa, Ghokimi, Kitami, Tsaphimi and Puneboqa villages, while Tsui bridge is located  on Kijumetouma to Ghathashi road which passes through Ghathashi, Iphonumi, Mukalimi and Hebolimi villages.

Patton also acknowledged the cooperation of all the citizens of those villages during the construction period and also congratulated the contractors namely M/s Vertex Constructions and M/s Multi Builders for successfully completing the works on time. Further, Patton also thanked the MLA Y Vikheho Swu for his concern and initiative towards improvement of road infrastructure in the area.

Meanwhile, Y Vikheho Swu has also acknowledged the deputy chief minister for his intervention and initiatives for timely completion of the bridges despite the Covid-19 crisis. He was optimistic that adjoining villages would be greatly benefitted with completion of the bridges.
