Patton inaugurates police platoon post in Sungkha

DIMAPUR — Deputy Chief Minister and minister in-charge of Home and Border Affairs, Y Patton, on Thursday inaugurated the police platoon post at Sungkha (Tongti) under 7th NAP Battalion in Bhandari sub-division of Wokha district.

Speaking at the inaugural function, Patton appealed to the people of the area to extend possible support and cooperation to the police personnel posted at Tongti platoon outpost and also report their grievances to the police, stated an update from media cell of Deputy CMO.

He also directed the state police and CRPF personnel posted in the border areas to initiate patrolling in the nearby villages to maintain peaceful atmosphere as Wokha district shares the longest border with neighbouring Assam.

NPF legislator and chairman of SDPDB Bhandari, Achumbemo Kikon, also spoke on the occasion. He thanked the Home minister for making the long cherished dreams of the people of his area come true. He appealed to the people to coordinate with the police for maintaining peaceful environment.

Short speeches were also delivered by Rupin Sharma, DGP of Nagaland; Meren Jamir, IGP of NAP; Menangmeren, commandant 7th NAP; chairman of Tongti; and Ajit Kumar Ranjan, DC of Wokha.

The programme was chaired by R Randanbemo Ezong, deputy commandant of 7th NAP, and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Sentilong, deputy commandant 2nd in-charge of 7th NAP, Bhandari.
