Patton impressed with development of Ganeshnagar quarantine facility

Dimapur, June 4 (EMN): Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton on Thursday visited Ganeshnagar quarantine centre and applauded the task taken up by the Police department in converting the facility into quarantine centre within a week.

According to a DIPR report, Patton was impressed by the development undertaken by the police in a record time and graded their performance as excellent. He lauded the department led by DGP John Longkumer for setting the stage to welcome the returnees of Nagaland.

The Police department has taken the initiative for converting the Ganeshnagar Industrial estate, which has been abandoned for several years, into a quarantine centre.

Patton inspected the quarantine and isolation wards and reviewed the preparedness of security, medical, electricity, water supply, sanitation, and control room.

As a gesture of his contentment and also to boost the morale of the personnel who were working tirelessly, he extended monetary assistance to them.

The deputy CM advised that one has to be cautious by being discipline while urging the people not to panic. He also maintained that the conditions of the returnees affected by the virus were all healthy and stable.

PHED Minister Jacob Zhimomi, on behalf of the legislators of Dimapur district, lauded the DGP and all rank and files of the Police department for their tremendous work done for the welfare of the Nagas.

As human nature, he said there might be criticism once the returnees occupy the centre, however, advised the personnel not to feel discouraged but to continue with their mission.

MLA Azheto said: “You have converted the jungle into wow”.

He advised them to inform the surrounding villages to stay indoors while the returnees are transported in the centre to avoid apprehensions and also to disinfect the area often as a preventive measure.

The DGP assured to continue rendering their best services and to make the centre one of the best.

DIG (Training), Aotemsu, the man behind all the developmental works at Ganeshnagar, said that things have been carried out smoothly without confusions due to the unlimited authority vested to him by the DGP Nagaland. He informed that 250 police personnel including 30 female from Mahila have been working 10 hours a day.

On medical service, he informed that five teams comprising of 20 medical staff (3 doctors and 17 medical personnel) in each team will work for seven days. In each sector there would be a medical observation block which would be manned 24×7 in case of emergency, he said, adding that the returnees will be monitored twice daily.

Among others, Advisor Dr. Longriniken, Tovihoto Ayemi, Kazheto Kinimi and Commissioner Police Dimapur also accompanied Y Patton.
