Patriots’ Day observed in Manipur

Manipur observed Patriots’ Day with tributes to Anglo-Manipur War heroes, honouring sacrifices and urging unity for a peaceful future.

MANIPUR
Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, former CM N. Biren Singh and dignitaries pay tribute during Patriots’ Day observation in Imphal.


IMPHAL — Manipur on Tuesday observed Patriots’ Day, honouring the valiant heroes who sacrificed their lives defending the sovereignty of their motherland during the Anglo-Manipur War of 1891.


Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla led the state in paying tribute to the patriots, joined by the First Lady, MLAs, Chief Secretary, Security Advisor, DGP, and other civil and police officials. Floral tributes were offered at Hicham Yaicham Pat, Moirangkhom, and Thangal Temple at Palace Compound in the morning. Former Chief Minister N. Biren Singh attended ceremonies at these sites as well as events at the BJP office and his residence.

In the afternoon, the Governor and dignitaries laid wreaths at Kangla Uttra in the historic Kangla Fort, followed by tributes at Shaheed Minar and the memorial of the exiled martyrs. A Guard of Honour and gun salute were presented by Manipur Rifles.


Paying homage to Bir Tikendrajit, General Thangal, Paona Brajabashi, and other warriors, Governor Bhalla urged citizens to uphold unity, follow the ideals of the forefathers, and work for peace and prosperity. Chief Secretary Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel highlighted the enduring spirit of Manipur’s warriors and called on youth to build a stronger, united state.


Patriots’ Day was also observed at various locations in and outside the state, including Manipur Bhavans.
