DIMAPUR — Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) organised a curtain-raiser event for its golden jubilee on Saturday.

The college, established in 1974, is marking 2024 as the year of jubilee and has planned a series of events throughout the year as part of its golden jubilee celebration.

Alumni, students, faculty, and staff from the college, both past and present, gathered at Patkai’s Bundrock Chapel on Saturday afternoon in Chümoukedima to mark the occasion.

Rev. Dr. Tuisem A. Shishak, founder and principal emeritus, expressed his joy at being able to attend the golden jubilee celebrations and paying tribute to his late wife, Margaret Shishak, who died in May 2022, said that she was no longer present to celebrate the golden jubilee and that “God must have felt she had done enough.”

The 92-year-old Rev. Shishak, however, maintained that his job is not done yet and called upon the alumni to help Patkai establish a school of theology.

He insisted that theology and philosophy be integrated into the curriculum if they are to produce leaders capable of leading the church and society at large.

The day’s highlights included musical performances by the first batch of music students (1991–1992), Joey Woch (batch of 2000), and Bethel Tsuzü (PU Music 1999).

Nagaland Conservatory of Music (NCM) also performed on the occasion, with its founder and chairman, Lipokmar Tzudir (alumnus, batch of 2000), conducting the choir while the Patkai Drama Club performed a play depicting Rev. Shishak’s life, leading to the establishment of the college.
