Dimapur, Oct. 24 (EMN): Patkai Christian College (Autonomous), a University Grants Commission (UGC) conferred ‘Centre with potential for excellence,’ has once again been granted the extension of autonomous status by the standing committee constituted by the UGC.

An update from the college stated that the decision to this effect was taken after a meeting of the committee held on September 25.

It may be mentioned that a five-member peer team of UGC for ‘Autonomy Extension’ had earlier visited PCC on July 26. On the basis of the assessment of the infrastructural-financial-human resources, teaching-learning processes, adaptation of upgraded technologies, teaching-research and the progress from the last autonomy granted to the college, the decision was taken to extend the autonomous status to the college.

The peer team comprised of vice chancellor of Jadavpur University, Kolkata, Prof. Suranjan Das; Swami Kamalasthananda from Ramakrishna MVC College, Kolkata; additional director of state Higher Education, Dr. Watijungshi; plant pathology from SASRD, Nagaland University, Dr. Tiameren; and educational officer from UGC-NERO, Guwahati, Dr. Nikhil Kumar.

The update mentioned that Patkai Christian College was the first autonomous college in the Northeast. It was reaccredited ‘A’ Grade with CGPA of 3.06 by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
