DIMAPUR — Patkai Christian College (PCC) Autonomous commemorated its golden jubilee on Saturday at the PCC campus, drawing students, faculty, alumni, and guests to celebrate the college’s history and legacy.
A press statement from the college mentioned that, on the occasion, Rev. Dr. Tuisem A. Shishak, the founder and principal emeritus of PCC, unveiled the jubilee monolith.
During the event, a drama titled “Genesis of Patkai,” presented by PCC’s drama club, depicted the journey of the college’s founder and his wife, late Margaret Shishak. An alumna also delivered a tribute to late Margaret.
On the occasion, the college’s principals were recognised for their contributions to the institution.
Rev. Dr. Tuisem A. Shishak, principal from August 28, 1974, to August 31, 2004, was honoured for his vision and dedication. Also recognised were Rev. Judson Rungsung (September 1, 2004, to September 30, 2009), Mr. Kolezo Chase (September 1, 2009, to March 31, 2010), Mr. Hūsazū Epao (April 1, 2010, to March 31, 2020), and the current principal, Dr. Thepfuvilie Pierü, who has served since April 1, 2020.
Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho, general secretary of the NBCC, released the jubilee souvenir and delivered a message.
Greetings from the donors’ villages were conveyed by Dr. Kevingulie Khro from Seithekema and Razouvotuo Chatsu from Chümoukedima. A special mention was made of the alumnus for contributing to the development and progress of the college, as well as to Seithekema and Chümoukedima, the generous donors of the 1,000 acres of land on which Patkai Christian College now stands.
The jubilee declaration was read out by Dr. Sedevi Angami.
The resolution announced the establishment of a corpus fund to provide awards to meritorious students annually and to offer financial support to needy students.
It was also pledged to construct a new academic building, which will be named after the founder of the college, Reverend Dr. Tuisem A Shishak.
