Dimapur, Oct. 24 (EMN): “Discipline is vital and an essential ingredient to perform in sports including all other fields and students need to train themselves to be disciplined in life, “said Joseph Keishing, Commandant 173 Battalion CRPF. He was speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the 44th annual sports week of Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) organised at the college campus on Wednesday. Emphasising on the significance of discipline and hard work in life, he urged the youths to be diligent and not to give up half way for the works they undertake. Any works undertaken need to reach its finishing lines and should be fought to the best of one’s ability and not surrender to hardships, which otherwise is an effort wasted, the commandant added. Stating that the Northeasterners are hard working but also are idle at times, the commandant said often in the beginning of any tasks they are thrilled and empowered but eventually due to lack of consistency their enthusiasm fades. To this, he said it needs to be corrected by welcoming a disciplined and motivated life. Principal of the college, Husazu Epao welcoming the chief guest also exhorted the students to exhibit sportsmanship spirit in all the sports activities. The sports week kicked off with lighting of the torch and kicking of the football by the chief guest. March-past by all the houses marked the opening day of the sports week. Games and sports secretary SUPCC Nawang Wanghra also spoke on the occasion.
