DIMAPUR — In a significant step towards improving healthcare facilities and patient welfare, the District Hospital Peren, inaugurated its newly established patients’ kitchen on November 20 in the hospital premises.


The inauguration ceremony was attended by Hiazu Meru, Deputy Commissioner of Peren as the special guest, a DIPR report stated.


In his address, the DC lauded the hospital management and staff for prioritising patient needs, stressing that healthcare institutions should focus on overall patient well-being, including access to hygienic and timely meals, in addition to medical treatment.


Meru assured that the district administration would continue supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening public health services in Peren district.

Dr. Niriehthono Zetsuvi, Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Peren, delivered the welcome address, highlighting the importance of a functional patients’ kitchen in ensuring better care and comfort for those undergoing treatment.


She expressed her gratitude to the administration, medical staff, and all contributors who worked tirelessly to bring this facility into existence.


The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. M Tentennok Jamir, SMO, who acknowledged the contributions of the special guest, church leaders, hospital officials, OPD staff, and all individuals involved in coordinating the programme.


He expressed hope that the new kitchen would significantly improve the hospital’s service delivery and benefit patients from all walks of life.


Earlier, the programme began with a dedication prayer led by Dr. Rampaukopoing Michui, executive secretary of ZBCC, invoking blessings upon the newly established kitchen and its purpose of providing nutritious meals to patients admitted in the hospital.


The programme, chaired by Senior Medical Officer Dr. Hedungkiebe, was attended by officials, medical staff, church leaders and community members.
