The All Nagaland Aggrieved Hindi Teachers’ Association (ANAHTA) has postponed its agitation, which they launched in protest of the Nagaland government’s failure to pay them salary for about five months.
The postponement comes following what the association said was ‘assurances’ from the education authorities of the state.
The association issued a press release on Saturday informing about the hold in their agitation.
However, the Hindi teachers stated that empty assurances alone would not comfort the teachers who have not been paid for five months at a stretch.
“The untold suffering of a simple teachers whose salaries has not been paid for 5 (five) months cannot be comforted with empty assurances,” the press release stated.
“Therefore , the aggrieved teacher urged the state government and the department to implement the Ministry of Human Resource Development letter dated 27th Nov. 2014 No. (4) at schedule time as per the directive of the central government.”
According to the teachers, the “law of the land and service rule is for all and we are demanding what is legally our right.
Also ask the DOSE that under what rule it is illegal to seek monthly salary of the Government Servants.”
Moreover, the press release said, terming the ANAHTA as an ‘unregistered association’ was merely excuse for the education department.
“As we are a pressure group which can exist anywhere without registration. Nonetheless, ANAHTA is legally acceptable as an association,” the organization said.
The association has said that it was not “our desire to tussle with the department.”
Therefore, the teachers stated, “leaving aside all our grievances and keeping the welfare of the students at paramount we have decided to postpone our agitation for 10 days from Nov.10, 2015 and resume our normal classes as assured by the department that, our pending pays will be release within this week.”
If the assurance fails again , the organization warned, the Hindi teachers will not be held responsible for any further course of action.
