Pathaan: Huge paychecks of Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham revealed
The upcoming action thriller ‘Pathaan’ starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham is one of the most highly-anticipated movies of 2023. With a budget of INR 250 crore, the film is directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Aditya Chopra under the banner of Yash Raj Films. The film is set to release worldwide in multiple languages on January 25.

Shah Rukh Khan’s paycheck for Pathaan
Netizens have speculated that Bollywood superstar, Shah Rukh Khan, was being paid an astronomical amount to act in ‘Pathaan’. Reports suggested that he was paid over INR 100 crore to star in the movie. However, a recent report in India Today denied the outrageous claims citing sources.
India Today said that SRK was actually paid around INR 35-40 crore for his role. It claimed that Khan will be getting a share of the profits that ‘Pathaan’ could make during its theatrical run. Industry insiders estimate that he will be easily taking home over INR 100 crore if ‘Pathaan’ performs well at the box office.
How much was John Abraham paid to work in Pathaan?
Unconfirmed reports claimed that John Abraham, who will be playing the antagonist in the film, will receive INR 10-12 crore for the movie. However, the makers of ‘Pathaan’ are believed to have paid a big paycheck to rope in his talent for the film. If reports are to be believed, the Dhoom star has received INR 20 crore for his role.

Deepika Padukone’s paycheck for Pathaan
Deepika Padukone became the highest paid actress in Bollywood in 2020 after taking home INR 20 crore to share screen space in Prabhas’ upcoming movie directed by Nag Ashwin. However, Bollywood websites have claimed that she was paid INR 15 crore to play the female lead in ‘Pathaan’. This comes as a surprise as she has gotten better paycheck for her earlier movies. Have the websites underreported her remuneration, especially since Yash Raj Films is known for paying well?

Bollywood websites have also reported that the director of the film, Siddharth Anand, was paid a paltry INR 6 crore for his work on the film. However, industry sources estimate that he may have received over INR 10 crore for his work at the helm. This makes more sense as Anand has delivered a series of hit films that include ‘War’ and ‘Anjaana Anjani’. Not to mention, his contemporary, Ayan Mukerji, who made ‘Brahmastra: Part 1’, was paid INR 8-10 crore for Ranbir Kapoor’s flick.
Salman Khan does it for free
Interestingly, Salman Khan will be seen in an extended cameo in the film and has reportedly acted in the film for free, out of love and respect for Shah Rukh Khan. If the reports are true, this is a nice gesture from one of Bollywood’s biggest actors.
While the paychecks of other actors and technicians involved in the film have not been disclosed, it is clear that ‘Pathaan’ has attracted some of the biggest names in Bollywood and promises to be a blockbuster hit.
