DIMAPUR — The preacher at the centre of a sexual abuse scandal, Robert Kikon, continues to evade a manhunt launched by Dimapur Police.

Even as rumours and various unconfirmed accounts concerning the case are being spread, official sources continue to maintain its code of silence—not usually seen in similar cases that involve accused persons who enjoy a lower social profile than that of a pastor.

On the condition of anonymity, an official source confirmed that the search for Robert Kikon is still on. It was learnt that airport authorities have also been alerted.

Another source said that the accused pastor was almost certain to have escaped the country by now. However, none of the official sources are responding to any queries. Even the activists refuse to comment.

As reported previously, an arrest warrant is out for Robert Kikon after the Fathers’ House Church (FHC) in Chümoukedima—where he was a senior pastor until recently—filed an FIR against him following revelations of sexual misconduct.

NTPRADAO lauds CWC, Police

The Nagaland Transparency, Public Rights Advocacy and Direct Action Organisation (NTPRADAO) has condemned the alleged sexual exploitation of minor boys by the former senior pastor of Father’s House Church, Robert Kikon.

“The outrageous public exposure has utterly bewildered and shocked the entire Naga community in disbelief for its unprecedented acts if it is true, and it appeals to one and all in the State to stand hand-in-hand with the exploited victims and their families. The gravity has impacted psychologically and emotionally the collective Naga public psyche,” read a press statement issued by the organisation on Sunday.

It expressed appreciation of the Social Welfare department’s Child Welfare Committee for “seriously pursuing the matter to the extent of filing an FIR with the victim’s consent”. It also lauded Dimapur Police Commissioner and his team “for prompt police support wherever necessary.”
