Parliamentary Committee on Naga political issue meeting postponed

Kohima, June 16 (EMN): The proposed meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Naga political issue, which was scheduled to be held on June 19, is said to have been postponed, according to sources.
No new date has been set for the committee’s meeting, it was informed.
The decision to postpone the meeting came after the High Powered Committee (HPC) extended the state-wide lockdown till June 30.
The meeting, which would be the first since the committee was formed on June 10, was supposed to take place at Police Complex, Chümuokedima in Dimapur.
The government of Nagaland had on June 11 notified that the committee was constituted to discuss matters related to the protracted Naga issue and play the role of facilitator in the ongoing peace talks between the government of India and the Naga political groups.
Modification of Core Committee
Meanwhile, the state’s Home department has informed through a notification that modification has made in regard to members of Core Committee of the Parliamentary Committee on Naga political issue.
The number of the panel (excluding convenor, co-convenors and member secretary) has been increased from the earlier 15 to 16 members following addition of R Khing, Advisor of Vety. & AH, Women Resources Development.
Meanwhile, Minister of Health and Family Welfare S Pangnyu Phom has replaced Advisor of TA Dr. Longrineken, and legislator Muthingnyuba Sangtam has replaced MLA Dr. Chumben Murry in the core committee.
