Dimapur, Nov. 17 (EMN): Zakiesato Memorial Hr. Sec. School celebrated Parents’ Day with district nodal officer (NTCP), Dr. C. Tetseo as the special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Tetseo appreciated the initiative of the school to organise the parents’ day in their honour . In his message to the parents, he said that students are receiving all round education in their school but the parents also should not forget their responsibility towards their children.
He said that some parents after admitting their children in the schools, think that they have done their job and it is up to the school to do everything. Saying that present day education is holistic education, Tetseo asked the parents to play a special role in the development of children and told them that they cannot just shift the responsibility to the school.

Citing examples from an incident, he said it is not just the responsibility of the mother alone, but both parents have equal responsibility towards the child. He further said the father needs to provide security to their children, not just money and food, but emotional security and have faith in their children.
He said that if the child is not getting the attention from both parents in the family, such children may tend to take a wrong path. Therefore, he asked the parents to cautious and be a role model to their children.

The District Nodal Officer, who was once a teacher himself, also reminded the teachers of the school about their responsibility towards the children.
Stating that teaching is a noble profession, Dr. Tetseo said that the teachers should not leave any opportunity to provide knowledge to the children so that they can lead a better life.

To the students, he said that they are living in a competitive world now, where they may face several problems due to circumstances. He told them to overcome those problems to achieve their goals. He challenged the students not to compromise with their potentials and rise against any circumstance to attain the goal in their lives.

Earlier, in his welcome address, coordinator of the School, Joyson Shimray sought the cooperation of the parents to develop the school. He also reminded them of their responsibilities towards the children and the school and asked them to be supportive.

Shimray also took the opportunity to explain about various educational programmes of the government and stressed on “Beti Padhao Beti Bachao”, to provide opportunity to a girl child to seek education. The occasion saw hundreds of parents attending the celebration and enjoying their children participating in various events.
