Parents conduct awareness across Nagaland on disability

[caption id="attachment_203617" align="alignleft" width="365"] Members of the Nagaland Parents’ Association for the Disabled work on disability certificates and ID cards for differently-able people.[/caption] Dimapur, Aug. 28 (EMN): The Nagaland Parents’ Association for the Disabled recently conducted an awareness camp and seminar on disability in various parts of Nagaland. According to a press release from the association, a programme was conducted at Tuensang Town Baptist Church. The programme was organised aimed at sensitising various church leaders, faith based organisations, and other civil societies on the issue of disabilities so that they might in turn disseminate the information and sensitise society. A similar programme was also conducted at Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) Platinum Hall in Kohima, where the commissioner for disable, Dr. Atha Vizo, highlighted about 21 different types of disabilities. Participants of the programme were members of NBCC, pastors and members from different churches. In Dimapur, the programme was conducted at Christian Higher Secondary School’s Covenant Hall, where the participants were pastors, Sunday school teachers, and members from different churches. Likewise in Mon, a programme was conducted at DRDA Hall. Various resource persons spoke on the topic about disabilities and its type. Inclusion of PwDS, legal rights of persons with disabilities and provisions on right and entitlements of PwDs were also discussed during the event, the press release added.
