Dimapur, Jan. 31 (EMN): The Paradise Garden Bengali Championship League organised by Dimapur Bengali Students' Union was inaugurated by NPP Nagaland state president Dr. Andrew Ahoto at St. Mary's Montessori Higher Secondary School in Dimapur on January 31.
Speaking on the occasion, Ahoto lauded the DBSU for their active role in the society and added that youths should come forward and play a key role for the next generation.
Ahoto asserted that students have to understand their role and be the next future and also encouraged that DBSU should be the ‘big brother’ and do more good works for the society in the coming days.
He advised the gathering to educate the youths and also ‘try for going in national level sports’.
A total of 12 teams will be participating in the first 'The Paradise Garden Bengali Championship League' played from January 31 to February 7, where all the matches will be played under the light.
The winner of the tournament would receive a cash prize of INR 80,000 and runner-up would receive INR 40,000 along with trophy and certificate. Individual awards such as man of the match, man of the series, Orange Cap (most runs) and Purple Cap (most wickets) would also be awarded.
On January 31, the first match was played between team Global India versus Vikings Paradise Garden and the second match between Khermahal-11 versus St. Mary’s-11.
