KOHIMA — The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) on Wednesday cancelled the examinations of 14 students from eight schools in Dimapur in connection with the Class IX (Phase-II) question paper leak.
Earlier, the NBSE had filed an FIR following the leakage of question papers of four subjects—Social Science, Science, Alternative English and English—of the Class IX final examination 2025, held from November 21 to December 6.
The matter came to light on November 30 after reports of malpractice were flagged, prompting the board to lodge an FIR with the police the following day. The board received the police investigation report on December 16 and took decisions accordingly.
The investigation revealed that the primary source of the paper leakage originated from PM Shri Government High School, Burma Camp, Dimapur.
Consequently, the examination centre for Classes VIII and IX at PM Shri Government High School, Burma Camp, Dimapur, has been withdrawn with immediate effect.

In a notification issued on December 17, NBSE Secretary and Chairperson (Addl. Charge) Rangumbuing Nsarangbe informed heads of registered institutions that action had been initiated based on the investigation findings.
The investigation report further revealed that the leaked question papers were circulated within a closed group of 14 students from eight schools in Dimapur. Based on these findings, the examinations of the students involved have been cancelled, the board stated.
The NBSE also informed that it would separately communicate with the heads of the institutions whose students were found to be involved, and that necessary action would be initiated.
Meanwhile, the board informed that the portal for main result entry for Class IX will be activated from December 17 to December 19, 2025. Thereafter, the portal for retest result entry will remain open from December 20, 2025, to January 21, 2026.
For Class VIII, the portal for retest result entry will be activated from December 19, 2025, to January 21, 2026.
The board directed heads of institutions to take necessary action in view of the extraordinary situation.
