DIMAPUR — Pang Students’ Union (PSU) celebrated its golden jubilee on December 19 at Pang public ground with MLA Benei M Lamthiu as the chief guest on the theme “Vision Infinitum.”
Speaking on the occasion, Lamthiu appreciated all union members for their commendable services and contributions over the 50 years of existence. He expressed gratitude to God and acknowledged the pioneers for their role in nurturing the union since its inception in 1973, stated a DIPR report.
Lamthiu emphasised the importance of hard work in education and also highlighted the pivotal role of students in shaping the society. He urged everyone to rededicate themselves and work collectively for peaceful co-existence.
Short speeches were delivered by members of Pang Students’ Union, Peshu Students’ Union and Khiamniungan Students’ Union.
M Cheye, the first president of Pang Students’ Union, shared insights into challenges faced by the union in the initial period of its formation.
The event featured a welcome address delivered by chairman of Pang village council, K Hoamo, while the vote of thanks was delivered by convenor of jubilee planning board, K Puchiu.
