Dimapur, Feb. 28 (EMN): Chairman of Chümoukedima Village Council and advisor of Dimapur Villages’ Chairmen Association (DVCA), Razouvoutuo Chatsu inaugurated a panchayat hall at 7th Mile Model Village on February 27.

Speaking on the occasion, Chatsu recounted the establishment of the village way back in 1948 by Lhouzekuo Angami and others by overcoming many difficulties such as infestation of wild animals like tigers and bears including snakes, mosquitoes, leeches and wild shrubs. He mentioned that the village area was earlier a thick swampy forest with many unwanted activities taking place under concealment, an update from the village council stated.

He encouraged the villagers to unitedly strive forward to be at par with others in matters of development and social activities. While congratulating the villagers for the construction of the panchayat hall, he also candidly chided for the shortcomings which are inappropriate of a traditionally recognized village which is about 70 years old. He also appreciated the women organisation and the youths for various social activities undertaken by them since 2018.

Maintaining that the inauguration of the panchayat hall was his third visit in the last two years, he observed that a village like 7th Mile Model Village should be a model to other villages by the fact that all the Naga tribes have settled in the village.

The inauguration programme was attended by several Goan Burahs (GBs) and youth leaders from neighbouring villages besides leaders of the village and villagers.

Neibulie Bei-o, pastor of NCRC Prayer Centre, pronounced an invocation prayer, while KK Newmai, village council member, delivered the welcome speech, and students of Servanthood Bible College enthralled the gathering with a song. Short speeches were delivered by Zasizhalie Tacu, Head GB; Moangtula, chairperson of women association; Z Kepfelhou Koza, chairman of SMC; and other invitees. James Achumi, youth secretary, presented a report, while Keneiletuo Zumvu, youth president, proposed the vote of thanks and the benediction was pronounced by Moatemsu Jamir, principal of Servanthood Bible College.
