Dimapur, Oct. 7 (EMN): Following a verbal assurance from the commissioner of police, Dimapur, to thoroughly investigate in-depth into the murder of Jiten Gogoi on September 22, the Public Action Committee (PAC) has decided to suspend its proposed course of action.

The decision to suspend its agitation was taken following a joint meeting of the PAC with the commissioner of police, Dimapur, held on October 7 at the latter’s office.

PAC has appreciated the action of the police wherein three suspected accused were arrested and put under custody for further investigation.
It may be mentioned that PAC had, on October 31, urged the state government to pass legislation on ‘Control of Crime Act’ similar to the Goonda Act prevalent in other states to deter criminals from committing crimes which impose rigorous imprisonment and penalties.

“Our determination to see this act passed in the state Assembly still stands unwavering and committed,” PAC affirmed.
