PAC serves 10-day ultimatum to Dimapur district administration

Dimapur, Sep. 26 (EMN): The Public Action Committee (PAC) has served a 10-day ultimatum to the Dimapur district administration to nab the culprit responsible for the killing of one Jiten Gogoi, a truck driver, in Dimapur on September 22.

A PAC statement, issued by its media cell on Saturday, urged the district administration to nab the culprit within 10 days and award a befitting punishment as per the law of the land. It also urged to reveal details of the investigation report to the public, failing which it warned, will take its own course of action.

The decision to this effect was taken in its meeting with the tribal hoho leaders, frontal organisations and transport agencies at the office of the Western Chakhesang Hoho on September 26.

PAC has also decided to give one month time (i.e. till October 30) to the state government to enact the criminal control act to deter habitual offenders in the larger interest of peace and justice.

PAC has also expressed dismay in the power project at Pudumpukhiri, Dimapur, which was stalled allegedly due to demands from the Naga political groups (NPGs). It strongly urged the government to act immediately in the interest of the general public and stated that it would not remain a silent spectator.

During the meeting, PAC deliberated and resolved to support the demands of the transporters which was served to the state government for removal of all illegal collection of money in all the check gates.

Meanwhile, PAC clarified that the tribal hohos and frontal organisations had, on March 5, decided to let PAC continue to function although it was dissolved by the Naga Council Dimapur (NCD). It stated that the public, having felt the necessity for its existence, had approved to let PAC continue in discharging its responsibility in the interest of the general public.
