MDLSA conducts legal awareness programme
Dimapur, July 30 (EMN): More than 450 people were benefitted under various schemes during the mini legal service camp organised by the Tuensang District Legal Services Authority (TDLSA) in collaboration with other departments of the district at Tuensang town on July 29.
Medical services, Aadhaar registration and correction, issue of residential certificate, opening of mini account at State Bank of India, awareness on maternity benefits scheme, free affidavits, legal advices and free pamphlets were various services provided at the camp. The camp was organised along with the Assam Rifles and medical and social welfare departments, and Sakhi- One Stop Centre and district administration.
The camp was organised with an aim to legally empower the marginalised groups in the society by providing effective legal representation, literacy and awareness and bridging the gap between the legally available benefits and the entitled beneficiaries. It also aims at apprising the people on welfare schemes and legislations and connect people with the schemes being run by the main departments while providing free services wherever possible.
Victo Sema, Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairman TDLSA; Kumdilong Kessen, JMFC and secretary of TDLSA; Yimtsusangla Chang, Project Assistant TDLSA; Soteth Anar, panel lawyer TDLSA; and PLVs participated in the camp.
Inzwak, APP, and Mitchell, APP, of Tuensang, and Chuba, Notary Public Tuensang, have also rendered free services during the camp.
Col. Yogesh Sharma, Additional DIG of 7 Sector Assam Rifles, also paid a visit and had an interaction with all the department officials at the mini camp.
The mini legal services camp was a follow up programme of mega legal services camp which was conducted in the month of September 2018 under the initiative of Nagaland State Legal Services Authority and TDLSA in collaboration with all the government departments.
Meanwhile, the Mokokchung District Legal Services Authority (MDLSA) visited two legal literacy schools on July 29 and conducted a legal awareness programme for the students.
Team 1 led by its secretary WV Patton along with panel lawyer Sentinaro and para legal volunteer Wabangtoshi visited Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School.
Patton spoke on functions of legal services, while Sentinaro spoke on NALSA (Child friendly legal services to children and their protection scheme 2019), and Wabangtoshi spoke on cyber crime and child abuse.
It was followed with an interaction along the school principal and teacher in-charge. The team was encouraged to observe that LLC members are active.
Team-II led by the District Project Assistant, Mapujungla Pongen with PLVs Molusen and Bendangsenla visited Imsutemjen Higher Secondary School. Mapujungla Pongen delivered the keynote address, while Bendangsenla spoke on consumer protection act and Molusen Imchen spoke on legal services and public utility services.
A brief discussion with the administrator, principal and teacher in-charge was carried out. It was told that the school is in need of more legal awareness programme and suggested the team to conduct seminar on legal awareness. The team was also requested to provide booklets on different acts and schemes for the students.
The programme was a success with the participation of 700 students along with the school authority and teachers.
