Over 200 participate in Fit India Swachhata Freedom Run
KOHIMA — The Kohima Smart City Development Limited (KSCDL) conducted Fit India Swachhata Freedom Run 4.0 at the Indira Gandhi Stadium (IG) in Kohima on Saturday to promote a fit and healthy lifestyle.
The fit run was flagged off by Kekhriesetuo Ziephrü, senior general manager, human resources, KSCDL, who encouraged participants on the occasion to be responsible and committed to making Kohima a clean, hygienic, and healthy city.
Students of the sports academy under the Youth Resources and Sports department participated in the run along with the department officers and coaches.
Over 200 people took part in the run and pledged to make India a fit nation through physical fitness and to keep the earth free of waste and garbage through proper waste segregation and management.
Kezhochole Rhetso, senior general manager of KSCDL, also advised the runners to engage in regular physical activity, noting that it can have a significant positive impact on one’s health and help to eliminate deadly diseases.
The Fit India Swachhata Freedom Run, on the theme ‘Swachh Bharat Swasth Bharat‘, aims to educate and encourage citizens to be fit and to maintain a healthy lifestyle, which can free people from the bonds of obesity, laziness, stress, anxiety, and diseases.
It aims to help develop motor abilities such as strength, speed, endurance, coordination, flexibility, agility, and balance through the fit run.
