Over 2 lakh unorganised workers in Nagaland register on e-Shram

DIMAPUR — Nagaland has a total of 2,29,780 unorganised workers registered on the e-Shram portal, with 11,498 of these registering this year from January to September 14, 2024.

According to data from the e-Shram portal, approximately 59.12 per cent of these registered workers are aged 18 to 40 years, 24.20 per cent are aged 40 to 50 years, and 16.60 per cent are over 50 years.

Of the total unorganised workers from Nagaland registered on the e-Shram portal, approximately 57.28 per cent are women and 42.72 per cent are men.

The highest number of unorganised workers registered are from the agriculture sector, with a total of 136,261, followed by the construction sector with 33,797 registrations. This is followed by miscellaneous occupations with 10,468 registrations and domestic and household workers with 8,014 registrations.

Sectors such as handicrafts and carpets have 7,041 registrations, automobiles and transportation have 6,292 registrations, the education sector has 5,438 registrations, and the apparel sector has 5,348 registrations. Retail has 3,140 registrations, capital goods and manufacturing have 2,360 registrations, and healthcare has 2,037 registrations, among others.

According to the Ministry of Labour and Employment dashboard, the top three states in the country with the highest number of registrations are Uttar Pradesh with a total of 8,36,53,316, followed by Bihar with 2,94,60,057, and West Bengal with 2,63,65,456.
