DIMAPUR — Oriental College, Kohima, on Wednesday celebrated its 28th fresher’s day at the college auditorium with the vice chairman of the college’s managing board, Mhalezolie Kire, as the special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Kire encouraged the students to seize every opportunity for their holistic growth. He also advised all members of the institution to nurture a friendly and vibrant atmosphere while upholding the rich legacy of the college.
He further emphasised the importance of balanced digital usage, cautioning against excessive use of electronic devices due to its potential health implications, and urged the students not to let those devices hinder their academic performance.
An update from the college stated that Dr. Watinaro Longkumer was inducted as its new principal on the occasion. In her induction speech, she expressed her eagerness to contribute positively to the college.

It also informed that Velotsuh and Khuloi Shiu were crowned Mr and Miss Fresher respectively.
An invocation prayer was said by Aboli Chikhe, assistant professor of History, and the welcome address was delivered by Dr. Kevizakielie Suokhrie, vice principal (Academics).
A special prayer for the freshers was said by Lhouvizhü Sachü, senior pastor of CRC, while special performances were presented by students of BA 3rd and 5th semester. Speech on behalf of the seniors and freshers were delivered by Vituozo Rio and Kevinuo Kulnu respectively.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Külüthilü Rhakho, student of BA 5th semester.
