Orgs. in KA observes 32nd autonomous demand day

Diphu, May 17 (EMN):  The Hills State Demand Council (HSDC), CPI(ML) Liberation Hills Party Committee and its allied organisations  observed 32 years of autonomous demand day at Diphu Club on May 17 Thursday.

During the observation, the organisations submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi through the Deputy commissioner of Karbi Angong urging immediate creation of autonomous state within Assam under Article -244(A) comprising of East, West Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao area. The memorandum was received by SDO(C) Jotrimoi Daimary.

Talking to the media persons, HSDC President Dr. Mongve Rongpi expressed that the autonomous state movement was launched in the year 1986 and that since then, ‘we have been trying to expose the BJP government for its failure to implement Article 244(A) of the India Constitution.’

Central BJP leaders came to Karbi Anglong in various places and assured with false promises to the people of Karbi Anglong. Nitin Gadkari ,Union Minister and Senior BJP leader in an election meeting at Diphu had also promised implementation of Article -244(A) in 2016, the president lamented.

Also Rongpi said that the present Assam Chief minister Sarbananda Sonawal had promised autonomous state at Diphu Club in May 2013.

Rongpi also recalled the false promises made by BJP central leaders in March 2009 at Kheroni in West Karbi Anglong, while Dr. Himanta Biswas Sarma had openly promised autonomous state on February 19 2016 at Diphu govt. boys higher secondary school while Tapir Goa, National general secretary on the matter of autonomous state committed to the issue. The election manifesto of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) general election 2017 had promised on granting autonomous state to hills people under Article -244(A).
