Members of student unions and youth organisations in Tening sub-division display a banner as part of the poster campaign.

Dimapur, May 13 (EMN): Irked by the indifferent attitude of the state government, the joint student unions and youth organisations under Tening sub-division in Peren district have launched a banner and poster campaign from May 11 to express their indignation at the state government.

The joint organisations have been demanding the state government to black-top   the state highway and only lifeline measuring 52 km from Peren to Tening which was left abandoned since 1984 till date.

An update from the media cell affirmed that the joint student unions and youth organisations would continue persisting on their ongoing campaign until the state government ‘listens and dispenses justice to their immediate demand.’

While pointing out that Nagaland state is profusely endowed with rich natural resources whereby a petty farmer/ businessman and a meagre wage earner have the potentiality to become a business tycoon, it lamented that the burning desire of those farmers was impeded owing to bad road conditions.

The joint bodies also affirmed not to shy away from voicing out to the state government to "Give us good roads, we will bring enormous development". It also reminded the state government that "Good roads are the signs of good governance".

Even as the joint bodies could not hold rally/ protest physically due to the spectre of rising Covid-19 cases, it was determined to leave no stone unturned in initiating their course of action if the state government continues to give a deaf ears to the hue and cry of its long awaited demand.

It further cautioned the state government to desist itself from testing the level of patience of the joint bodies.
