EMN DIMAPUR, JANUARY 10 Rubbishing the ‘Quit notice’ issued to the general public residing at Tuensang town by some anti social groups, the Tuensang Village Citizens Union (TVCU) has asked the denizens not to panic nor heed with such kind of uncalled intimation which it said “is nothing but just a selfish motive created by some people involve in anti social activities.” The press release issued by TVCU president NY Choba and general secretary C Kaimang while terming the ‘quit notice’ as irrelevant, have instead requested the general public to coordinate and work it out together to curb the menace which itself is an unhealthy development spreading fear psychosis and disturbances. The TVCU release also advised the business community of Tuensang town not to close down their establishments without proper orders from the district administration so as to facilitate normal daily activities. Lotha Hoho Wokha: The Lotha Hoho Chairman, Mhao Humtsoe and his team, Wokha have expressed shock and deep grief at the ‘Quit Notice’, issued by the Yimchungru Public Co Ordination Committee (YPCC), published in some local dailies on January 9. The Lotha Hoho general secretary Mhondamo Ovung in a release said, it failed to understand the motive or sanity of, anyone, issuing such a notice to one’s own brethren. The Hoho insisted that the state government and the concerned district administration do whatever is necessary to avert any untoward eventuality. The Hoho also appealed to all affected communities to show solidarity and extend concerted co operation to the district administration and to remain calm. “As long as we are Nagas of Nagaland such an attitude should not be allowed to prevail.” The Hoho questioned all right-thinking Naga brethren as to whether Nagas can live united with such an attitude, as this. The Hoho fervently appealed to the YPCC to review its Quit Notice and to revoke it immediately. “Any dispute must be settled, amicably, within the fraternity of the concerned parties.”JD (U): The JD (U) Nagaland State Unit President Mhonjan Lotha appealed to both Chang and Yimchunger community to stay calm and desist any source of violence and sort out the difference through negotiation in a true Christian manner. Lotha also appealed to DAN political affair committee to intervene to contain the present problem arises. NBCC: NBCC expressed deep concern and anguish over the tension and clash that has built up between our Yimchungru and Chang tribal neighbours and brethren. The sensitive issues causing the tension are understood and respected for what they have meant to each side as well as for the serious damage they can cause if the tension goes out of control. “Violence begets violence’ and ‘hate begets hate’ has been proven overtime without exception to our own society. Under no circumstances violence has ever been an answer to any problem. The modern world has ushered in ‘neighbourhood’ of nations and communities; but the evading reality is to strive for the ‘brotherhood’ of all people – which is truly the challenge for our people today to sustain a viable future. “ NBCC general secretary Rev. Dr. L. Anjo Keikung and its Peace Committee chairman Niketu Iralu in a release appealed to all parties for dialogue to be allowed to play its steadying, constructive role; convinced that the genius and wisdom of the leaders involved in the search on both sides of the conflict will find what the Almighty God will show to be right, best and lasting for all concerned. “NBCC, sustained by the prayers of all concerned, is giving active support to the attempt to defuse and answer the crisis.”
