Dimapur, July 23 (EMN): With the objective to create awareness on oral health hygiene in the district, a one-day oral health awareness camp was conducted at Luthur village in Kiphire district on July 23. The oral health awareness camp was conducted by Dr. Weri Mero, dental surgeon from Pungro CHC, along with nurses, ASHA co-ordinators, village ASHA and Anganwadi workers.
An update from the office of Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Kiphire, stated that a total of 49 OPD cases were registered out of which a total of 17 were registered for dental extraction and four were registered for root-stump and 30 patients were treated with oral prophylaxis.
Members of Village Health Committee (VHC), village councils and the villagers took active part in the event.
It added that oral health awareness camp was organised to promote good oral health and dental hygiene that could prevent bad breath, tooth decay and gum disease.
“An unhealthy mouth, especially having gum disease, may increase risk of serious health problems such as heart attack, stroke, poorly controlled diabetes and pattern problems,” the release added.
