Dimapur, Feb. 1 (EMN): The 1st Chakhesang Open Wrestling under the aegis of the Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA), is all set to be held on Feb. 8 at Pfutsero Sports Complex, Phek district, Nagaland with Neiba Kronu, Minister for Planning and Coordination and Land Revenue, Government of Nagaland as the special guest.
According to a press release issued by CWA general secretary, Kuveo Cukhamu, the Nagaland Referee Board has been assigned with the task of referees and panel of judges.
Meanwhile, as per the official sources of the CWA, approximately 70 prominent wrestlers from Chakhesang, Angami have registered to vie for the coveted fist ever title.
The champion will walk away with a cash prize of INR 1,20,000 along with citation; the first runner-up will be awarded a sum of INR 80,000; the second runner-up will pocket a sum of INR 40,000 and the third runner-up will walk home with a sum of INR 20,000. The losing pre-quarter finalists will each receive a sum of INR 3,000 while the losing quarter finalists will receive INR 6,000 each.
The ticket price has been grouped into 4 categories viz; chair, INR 500, INR 300 and INR 200 while the gallery is priced at INR 100.
NWA rules and regulations shall govern the entire proceedings of the wrestling competition. A sum of INR 300 will be realised from each participant as entry fee. Accommodation shall be provided to non Chakhesang wrestlers.
The CWA appeals all wrestling lovers to be a part of the indigenous mega event and join the community traditional festival with the Chakhesangs.
