Kohima, April 23 (EMN): For the first time, Prodigies Group (PG) will conduct its fifth open penalty shoot-out tournament at the Indira Gandhi Stadium (Astro-Turf) in Kohima on May 4. The theme for this year is ‘innovationg a stronger fellowship.’
This was announced at a press conference by the group officials held at its convener’s residence in Kohima on April 23.
Public Relation of PG, Ruokuovilie said that the entry fee for each team was priced at INR 2000 and registration form is INR 100. Interested team can get the registration at following outlets—M/s Sports World (town area); M/s Equipment & Sports (town area); Ails Active Station (High School Road); M/s Royal Enfield (High School Junction); and M/s Big Bite (Jail Colony). Registration forms are available can be submitted along with entry fee at the same outlets, he informed.
Last date of form submission is on May 1. Match fixtures will be finalised on May 3 at 4 pm at IG Stadium, Kohima. The organisers requested a representative of the participating team to be present during the fixture draw.
The daylong tournament is scheduled at 9 am on May 4.
A few of the local entrepreneurs will run stalls to cater to the spectators. Some of the selected local artists will also perform live music entertainment on the day, Ruokuovilie said.
For the rules and regulation, each team will comprise of six players including goal keeper and a team manager or a coach. The players must play in proper football attires. The Kohima District Football Referee Association will officiate the event, he informed.
Last year happened to be the “best turn-out” with a total of 48 participating teams. ‘We are expecting more team this year.’ The group also encourages for more women participating team, Ruokuovilie added.
The champion will walk home with INR 30,000, while the second position will receive INR 20,000 with third INR 10,000, and fourth INR 5,000. Another INR 5,000 will be awarded to the best goalkeeper.
