Only Naga GBs for RIIN exercise — JCPI
Dimapur, Oct. 1 (EMN): The Joint Committee on Prevention of Illegal Immigrants (JCPI) has clarified that its suggestion to the Banuo Commission to debar Dimapur GB sadar/urban from the RIIN exercise was solely to ensure that it is carried out without any loopholes.
A statement from the committee informed that it had held a meeting on Tuesday to discuss issues arising out of the recommendations submitted to the commission.
“The Nagaland GB Federation has been one of the founding members of JCPI and that the issue raised by the Dimapur GB sadar/urban has been reviewed. The assertion to ‘debar’ the Dimapur GB sadar/urban in the RIIN exercise as ‘non-negotiable’ is dropped provided only genuine Naga GBs from Nagaland should be empanelled by the district administration,” it stated.
According to the committee, in its suggestions to the commission, it had inadvertently mentioned the whole of Dimapur GB sadar/urban areas. “The JCPI sincerely regrets the oversight into the nuances of the report. JCPI appeals to all GBs to extend cooperation in the crucial process of identification of Nagaland indigenous inhabitants so that any anomalies are removed to serve the common interest, as GBs are the traditional guardians its citizens.”
Also, it informed that the JCPI will organise a march on October 3 in Kohima in response to the NEFIP call for anti-CAB campaign across the Northeast. The march will begin at 9.30 am from Badminton Stadium, Raj Bhavan Road till the official residence of the chief minister it informed.
