Online competitions to mark 75 years of India’s independence

The department of School Education will be organising an essay/creative writing and innovative practice competition for students of classes 1 to 7 commemorating 75 years of India’s Independence.

Principal Director of School Education Shanavas C informed Eastern Mirror on Sunday that in view of the upcoming 75th Independence Day of India, the activities would be organised as per the guidelines from the Ministry.

In a notification issued on July 3, the principal director had informed that the online contest would be organised at school, district and state levels from July 1 to August 15.

In this regard, heads of all schools, both government and private having classes 1 to 7 have been informed to organise the competitions through online mode from July 7 to the 20th and submit best three school level entries of each category to respective district education officers before 26th of the month.

The department stated that district education officers would select best three district level entries from each category and forward to the directorate of School Education through Google Drive while it apprised that link will be informed separately before July 31.

It was informed that the best three state level entries from each category will be declared on August 15 through https://dosenl.in and https://www.facebook.com/DoSENL.

According to the notification, schools will award prizes/certificates of appreciation to best three school level entries in each category and issue certificates of participation to all school level participants.

District education officers will award prizes/certificates of appreciation to best three district level entries in each category and issue certificates of participation to all district level entries.

Similarly, the directorate of School Education will award prizes/certificates of appreciation to best three state level entries in each category and issue certificates of participation to all state level entries.

The essay/creative writing competition for classes 1 to 5 will be conducted on the topic, “Events leading to India’s Independence from British Rule and role of various freedom fighters in it”(maximum 500 words).

 The topic for classes 6 and 7 will be, “Analysis of India’s struggle for Independence – different schools of freedom movement from 1857 to 1947” (maximum 800 words).

 Meanwhile, innovative practices competition will also be organised for the four classes through video presentations on projects/models/activities undertaken by the students.

The contest for classes 1 to 5 will be held on the topic, “Vision for Future” while “Contribution of individuals to nation-building” as the topic for classes 6 and 7.

The length of the video should not exceed 10 minutes, it informed.
