One woman arrested in connection with smuggling of drug worth INR 5 crore

Diphu, May 25 (EMN): Acting on a tip off, the Karbi Anglong Police on Tuesday seized a huge quantity of suspected heroin during a checking at Santipur and a woman was arrested in connection with smuggling of drugs.

Bokajan SDPO John Das told journalists that a special Naka check was set up at Santipur with the help of Borpathar Police team and Khatkhati Police team at around 11:30 after receiving a special report about smuggling of drugs from Dimapur.

The police officer informed that 64 soap boxes containing 723 gram of heroin was recovered from a bus coming from Dimapur after a thorough search and a woman identified as Limpa Hazarika was arrested in connection with the smuggling of suspected drugs.

The approximate value of seized drugs in the international market is about INR 5 crore, the police officer informed.
