Imphal, Dec 8 (EMN): One person was shot dead on Saturday morning by unknown gunmen near the foothill of Cheiraoching at Thangmeiband area in
Imphal.
The deceased has been identified as Soraisam Modhuchandra alias SM Meitei (45) son of Dinamani of Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai.
According to police report, the individual was gunned down while he was returning from morning walk around 6.30 am. Proscribed Manipur based United National Liberation Front claimed the responsibility for the killing.
The outfit in a statement said that capital punishment was given to the deceased who had surrendered to the government along with 2 arms of the outfit on June 19, 2017, for his counter revolutionary activities.
