Dimapur, Oct. 22 (EMN): Special judge of the Fast Track Special Court, Dimapur, V Nyekha, on October 22 convicted and sentenced one Fulbabu Ray to undergo rigorous imprisonment of 15 years and a fine of INR 30,000 for raping his neighbour’s minor girl child, who was 12 years at the time of commission of the offence.
The accused was convicted under Section 4 and 12 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act 2012.
The case was registered in Dimapur Women Police Station and investigated by SI Yantsula, while the case was conducted by Imlimongla, special public prosecutor, who successfully brought home the charges against the accused for commission of offence of penetrative sexual assault, an update from the office of the Public Prosecutor, Dimapur, stated.
While pronouncing the judgement and order, the Special Judge observed that the rapist not only violated the victim child’s personal integrity but degraded the very soul of the helpless child. The Special Judge also observed that the innocent child was subjected to such barbaric treatment by the accused and therefore does not deserve a place in a civilised society.
The Special Judge further ordered a compensation of INR 30,000 to the victim under the Victim Compensation Funds/ schemes.
