One of three held for attempt to murder

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 18

ONE of the three accused, wanted in connection with a stolen JCB and attempt to murder its driver, handyman and another person, has been arrested by the East Police Station personnel led by SI Langakhum Yimchunger.
The accused identified as Thounaojan Ahongjao Singh (25 years) was arrested from Ningompam Makhaleki, Imphal by the East Police personnel with the help of Manipur Police on September 17. The JCB has also been recovered by the police.On September 3, three persons from Manipur hired a JCB from T.K. Service Dimapur. They took the JCB along with its driver and handyman to Pongsang village near Jharnapani. Two other acquaintances of the driver, including a minor, were also present when the incident happened.
On reaching the village, the three with the intention to run away with the JCB stabbed and slit the throat of the driver. Assuming him to be dead, they threw his body into a pond and left with the JCB. The handyman and one of two persons who accompanied the driver were also attacked by the miscreants, but they managed to escape with injuries. They were admitted to the Christian Institute of Health and Science Research, Dimapur by passersby where their conditions are said to be stable. The minor boy, a 12-year-old, was taken to Ningompam Makhaleki, Imphal by the three accused and confined there. However, the minor was sent back to Dimapur on September 17 by the three accused. They had reportedly booked the vehicle ticket for him.
The accused has been remanded at East Police Station and a case registered against him. Two of his accomplices are still absconding.
