One held with drugs, body recovered

ACTING on information pertaining to smuggling of contraband drugs, personnel of the Government Railway Police Station (GRPS) on August 4 seized a huge quantity of banned drugs from a possession of one person destined for Manipur.The consignment of illegal drugs was seized from the possession of one Abdul Barik, son of Abdul Manak of Top Khogmangkhong village under Impahl East of Porompat district. The arrest and seizure was made from the Kamrup Express UP at Dimapur Railway Station at around 10:10 a.m. led by Officer-in-Charge Salie Nagi. The consignment was recovered neatly stashed within the cylindrical vacuum of silver foil wrapper and other utensils.
In total, police personnel have recovered 36,000 capsules of banned Spasmo Proxyvon from the possession of the accused. He has reportedly purchased the banned drugs from Kolkata and intended to dispose the same in Manipur. The market value of the seized drugs is estimated at Rs 3.6 lakhs.
In a separate incident, personnel of the Government Railway Police Station recovered a body of a non local in his mid 40s from Platform No. II on August 4 at around 10:30 a.m.
The victim was suspected to have died in his sleep.Toll filing of this report the victim’s identity could not be established.He was dressed in brown half pant and white jersey. The body is now in the morgue for identification.
